These Things Come In Threes

Conversation between me and my (French) friend last week:

Me: Boo, Alain Corneau's dead :(My friend: And Laurent Fignon too - he was only 50!
Me: Wonder who the 3rd one's gonna be...

Later...
My friend: I know who the third one is
Me: Who?
My friend: Michael Douglas - throat cancer!
Me: When did that happen? When did he died?
My friend: Oh, he's not dead yet!
Me: Well he doesn't count then!

Today, I finally figured out who the third one is. Turns out the "third one" died first.
Bruno Cremer, who was mainly famous in France, as this piece notes, for his role as Maigret.

I can't say I'm particularly sad about Fignon, but Corneau and Cremer's deaths...
