How to kill your boss?

Note: I am yet to see this film. 

Short plot summary on wiki lets us know that: The plot follows three friends, played by Bateman, Day, and Sudeikis, who decide to murder their respective overbearing, abusive bosses, portrayed by Spacey, Aniston and Farrell.

Phillip French of the Guardian comments that “In desperation, they approach a criminal nicknamed "Motherfucker" (Jamie Foxx), who the trio believe to be a professional hitman. He takes $5,000 from them, then advises they should murder all three bosses using the mutual exchange scheme of Strangers on a Train.” He also adds that “The movie is a lumbering, misogynistic affair with jokes ranging from being on the sex offenders' list via a discussion between Bateman and Sudeikis over who'd be the likeliest to be raped in jail (...) I laughed frequently, probably to the detriment of my self-respect.” which is about the same feedback I got from different friends who have seen it.

Anyhoo. I would not have guessed from the title it is a comedy, it is mysterious enough. Is it a documentary on working conditions and people abusing power?  Who knows?

But you know it concerns several people (the plural is used as there are 3 main characters with their 3 horrible bosses).

The French title, on the other hand, leaves hardly any place for mystery. It’s from the looks of it a guide on how to kill your boss. And why only translate part of the title? Does keep “boss” in makes the title cooler? 

There is a perfectly acceptable French word for boss and it’s patron. No, not like a client or someone whose patronage you benefit from. Patron in French means boss. And a patron in French is un(e) mécène. Yeah, that’s fun! 

What was their problem with “Comment tuer son patron?” or “Comment tuer son chef?” (Yes, “chef” is also a manager, not just a cook), or even better “Horribles patrons” which would have required a minimal effort for 100% accuracy.
